Lofting beds in dorm room?

Hey guys, I know dorm life and all that is a long way from now, but I’m going to UF for Summer B (along with my twin sister) and we were wondering how do we loft our beds? We would like the extra space under there for like drawers, and maybe even a futon. And we would like to dorm in Jennings… Thanks!

I heard lofts are no longer permitted.

^^^Daughter is doing it today in Jennings, so unless it’s something that changed this spring semester (and she’s been grandfathered in…), it’s still an option.

@Gator88NE‌ can you tell me how it goes? Is she able to loft it entirely as if there was another bunk under it or can she just lift it to put drawers underneath it?

It’s can be lofted high enough to put chairs, small tables, drawers, etc, underneath it. Much like a top bunk.I would recommend a small step stool. We purchased a “Papasan Dorm Sofa” from Amazon (ASIN: B00J1VA2AM) and she loves it.

@Gator88NE‌ Thank you so much!!! And who do I speak to, to get my bed lofted?

I’ll have to ask my daughter, but I think it’s just the RA, front desk or a call to building services.

When some people refer to “lofts,” they are referring to built up platforms, almost like a second story. I think that’s what not permitted. You can always raise up the bed. You can probably do it yourself with a mallet.

Thanks guys.
