I am attending an Explore USC event to interview for the Trustee Scholarship. I know that attendees are going to spend the night before our interview with a student and I’m kinda worried about it.
- Do we need to bring a sleeping bag/pillow/blanket/etc to sleep on?
- I’ll shower during the time I’m with my student host so does that mean I will need to use the communal showers? Do I need to bring shower flip-flops and a shower cabby just like the college kids?
- I think I read that the interview panel will have my application. Should I bring my resume/offer it? It’s basically my application with maybe a little less noteworthy stuff.
- If you attended, what is some advice you wish you had known? Was there anything unexpected you wish you prepared for?
Thanks!
Hi! I’m an Explore host this year and can answer most of these questions. You’ll need a sleeping bag and pillow and you’ll have to use the communal shower, to bring flip flops and a caddy if you need it. Bring 3 resumes for all of your interviewers and wear business formal for Marshall, business casual if not. Good luck!
I can answer some questions, given my son’s experience. Yes, bring sleeping bag. The shower situation may depend on type of dorm you are staying in. If it’s Birnkrant, then yes traditional communal shower, flip flops, toiletries, towel. My son did bring a resume and hand it to interview panel. He had some new info to add since application. Don’t worry about the interview. Your host can tell you what to expect.
Just thought I’d update in case someone else reads this – I got the scholarship and I brought resumes to USC but ended up not giving them to my interviewers. Go with your gut feeling as both are okay!
