Lol I Go To Pomona

I AM A SOPHOMORE HERE

RAAAA I LOVE CAPSLOCK

Any Questions?

Yeah...did they ever finish the construction on North Campus? They said they'd be done before we graduated last May but... not so much.

Sooo what made you want to go to Pomona?

howwww did you get in? do they already have too many asian girls (im an asian girl)?

There is no such thing as too many asian girls

(except in china)

haha, in response to jackiesakura, i'm a female asian-american student at pomona and i've found that the asian and asian-american population at pomona is pretty small compared to other highly selective private schools - something like 16% to the usual 20+%.

Oh coool thank you chopsticks! My chance for admission is now .0001 percent better haha. I was so excited about Pomona when I visited their language dorm where noone's allowed to speak English! So awesome! and the Pomona college guide has this full page of Japanese conversation typed in both kanji and translated... SOOO BOMB!

^^Yeah, I remember reading that conversation. It was so funny! The Japanese class sounds interesting.

Is this Cal Poly Pomona?

jmilton - nooo this is the liberal arts college pomona

just wondering - how are the dorms at pomona? greek life? competition?

pomona is one of the top colleges on the 'palaces like dorms' list on princetonreview.com. when i visited the dorms were pretty ample and nice.

Competition between other people is low.....there's no class rank, and for the most part, everyone knows that how other people perform won't preclude them from doing whatever they want to do when they graduate. As such, people are motivated and work very hard for themselves, but are more collaborative with other people.

q: is north campus construction still going?
a: yes, unfortunately, in a couple buildings. should be done by next year though.

q: how did I get in?
a: beats me lol, IM A REAL DUMMY

q: is there competition?
a: eh, maybe not explicitly... classes aren't curved so that a certain amount of ppl get A's, certain amount get B's, etc... so in that way there's no competition. ppl here are laid back and all but at the same time most of us have our eyes set on graduate schools, so in the back of our minds we know we have to be competitive still.

soon as you get into college you'll quickly realize that getting into an undergrad school isn't really that big of a deal and that you'll be going through another, much harder and more important admissions process to grad school in a few years.

ISNT THAT GREAT

errrr...............okay.

ahahahaha this is hilarious

There is no Greek life. There are social clubs that have Greek names, but they don't live together or any of that.

Are there lots of job opportunities on campus? Can you work anywhere in the 5 c's?

You can work anywhere on the 5-C's, and I know students working as TA's for classes at HMC, Pitzer etc.

Another great thing is the PCIP. Basically, Pomona will pay you $10/hr to take an unpaid internship in the area, as well as provide you gas money and a car if you are going to drive there (and pay for travel time!). I don't know of any other school that offers a program comparable to this.

Do you need to apply to that program? If so, how rigorous is the application process?

I'm not sure of the exact numbers, but nearly everyone who goes through the PCIP application process (~50-100 possibly) gets funding and is matched with an internship. The application process is really no different than applying for a job.
