THANK YOU if you read all/most of that. Please do comment.

First, you can major in philosophy and still be premed; that combination is pretty common actually.

Second, you have a shot most anywhere, though your EC's are a little week because there's not much from freshman year and little 4-year continuity.

Also, if your unweighted GPA is a 4.0, you can't really claim that your performance has improved over the years, but that's unimportant.

I don't think your stats are strong enough for the WASHU combined program, but you might look at Brown's, which I would also recommend if you're considering doing something other than medicine since it has an open curriculum. Other schools to consider would include Penn, Duke, Stanford, etc., premed bastions that also have strong humanities programs (which is why I didn't mention Hopkins).

First of all, are you planning to apply to any 7 year med programs? Because if you are i think you need three SAT2's in different subject areas. If not, you can basically be competetive anywhere you apply. Apply to some privates if you can afford them, otherwise there is nothing wrong with a good state school. Actually, the name of your undergrad doesn't care THAT much weight, but try to get into schools like Stanford which ive heard to have grade inflation.

Ugh, I can say that I haven't experienced grade inflation at Stanford. I'm a pre-med student, and students are very driven so curves tend to be unpleasantly high. (Well, unpleasant for half the class.)

On the bright side, Stanford is great about encouraging students to explore many fields and choose what they like best for a major (or heck, double major); there is a pre-med curriculum to follow, but no pre-med major. I have a friend who is majoring in Art History but is a successful premed... there are advisors to help you with being pre-med no matter what major you choose to have.

You could be a good candidate for Stanford, depending on your essays. No matter where you choose to apply, be sure to convey your passion for whatever it is you do; maybe you love the challenge and the differing opinions that arise in debate, or you find religion to be comforting in the chaos of today. Don't just talk about what you do; talk about how it makes you feel and why you love it!

I just wanted to urge you not to just disregard Johns Hopkins for its "weakness in the humanities." True, the pre-med program is a powerhouse and perhaps the best in the country. However, the Writing Seminars department, a program in creative writing, was ranked second-best in the nation by US News and World Report. Furthermore, they pride themselves additionally on many other areas such as sociology and romance languages to name a few. Hopkins has a philosophy student publication. Perhaps a little unrelated, they really pioneered psychology in the united states.
