My big school that I want to get into is University of Cincinnati. I've visited the school several times and attended several lectures and I love the overall atmosphere of the school. However, I've not got many things going for me. I'm a senior now, and I've never had a chance to do Extracurriculars because since 7th grade I've been wrought with health and family problems, which has also affected my GPA. As it stands my current GPA is 2.26. I'm not going to be able to improve this by the time I fill out an application for UC, but the only thing I have good, and it really doesn't make up for it is my ACT score of 28. Is there any advice anyone can give? Quite honestly I feel screwed.

If you really want to go there you should attend a CC and get good grades, then transfer.

If you live near Cincinnati, I suggest attending one of their branch campuses first. There are two, Raymond Walters and also Clermont. If you live too far away to do so, I would attend a community college closer to your hometown, and then transfer. When you attend one of their branch campuses first, you almost always can directly transfer to main campus. However, I urge you to still apply to main campus. What program would you like to go into? Perhaps you could ask to meet with the director and discuss the program with him/her. I wouldn’t blatently say that your GPA is low in the interview, just express how excited you are about the program/UC.
