Do I have much hope?

I currently go to UCR, and have a 2.33 GPA average.

I bombed spring quarter completely and recieved a 1.0 due to unfortunate depression and simply that life was not working with me. It was the most frustrating moment I've ever had and I've been suicidal during that time.

But over the summer, I've slowly been working things together.

And now, here I am in fall quarter. So far, I have straight A's and I am studying really hard. I am aiming for a 4.0 this quarter.

The thing is, I want to apply to UC Irvine, Santa Barbara, Davis and San Diego.

Yet, I strongly feel that my 1.0 is going to hurt me deeply, that I do not have much of a chance. Is this true? Even if I get a 4.0 this quarter, will they still pass me by?

And last question, but do Extra Curricular Activities still play a large role in applications by this point? I am a sophomore.

sorry about your depression, I hope you got some help and are better.

Unfortunately your GPA is extreemly low and from what I understand, UC to UC transfer is a much more difficult process when compared to cc to UC transfer. Have you considered going to a CC, getting that GPA up, and applying again?

EC’s don’t really matter when compared to Grades, prereqs, and personal statement for cc transfer. I doubt this will differ for you.

Best of luck and sorry for your ****ty situation. Talk to a counselor or adviser and see what your options are.
