Alright, so I really want to minor in art whether it be digital/animation or pure drawing and painting. But one thing that has been hindering me is the fact that I want to be a physical therapist. I now know that physical therapy is a graduate thing but how would I go about making something like PT as my major even though it’s not offered in most undergraduate degrees.(it’s okay if you don’t know) Basically I’m wondering what 4 year universities offer great art programs while also having the classes I need to take in order to become a PT? Thanks in advance!
Sorry i didn’t want to choose the major/minor forum because I’d have to post my comment in 3 different areas and I’m sure some people would be annoyed by that. :[
PT admissions officers are going to want to see that you’ve completed certain broad core requirements during your first three years before they consider admitting you to their graduate program in the fourth year. I can’t see how a minor in art would interfere with that as long as the requirements of the minor and the PT program are met in three years.
When you are looking at art programs, make sure they have an art minor, or admit non-majors to studio art classes. When my daughter was at the University of Washington, she wanted to take some drawing classes, but first priority was given to art majors, and there was never room in the classes. Theoretically, non-majors may have been admitted, but in reality, the spots were all taken by majors. At another one of our state universities, admission to the art major is competitive and a portfolio is part of the freshman admission process.Only art majors can take the hands-on classes during the regular school year.
