I’m currently a junior, and I was waiting to put together a formal list until I got my SAT scores back. I scored a 1550 on my first attempt (not planning on taking it again), and I currently have a 4.72 GPA (Weighted)/ 4.0 unweighted.
I have visited Wesleyan University and also Brandeis looks interesting. I am looking for more match schools, that are mid sized (2000-10,000).
One idea I had was William and Mary, but I was told it is much hard to get into if you are an out of state applicant.
Better check with your parents about your budget. You could have full ride at less publicized colleges or be full pay at $70k/year highly selective colleges.
I was thinking the exact same thing as @Hippobirdy. You have the stats to be competitive anywhere. However, your budget and your likely financial aid (run the NPCs) constrains the choices for most students.
You also should think about what you want in a school. Just because you can get accepted to a very highly competitive academically challenging university does not necessarily mean that you want to.
One issue is that there are many hundreds of schools that might be a potential fit with your great stats. We would need more information regarding what you want in a school and what you can afford before it makes much sense to make suggestions. Knowing your home state would help also.
@DadTwoGirls my home state is Pennsylvania. As safeties I am looking into the University of Pittsburgh and Temple (not a big fan of Penn State). I thought I have a decent chance at getting into the honors college at either Temple or Pitt.
What I really want in a school is something mid-sized with University resources and research opportunities, but still with a definite focus on undergraduate education. Socially I want a place that is racially/socioeconomically diverse, with groups that mix and a vibrant campus, but not a ton of greek life.
I’m a city kid so I can’t see myself anywhere super rural like Williams College (even though Williams is a great school).
One of my parents went to Wesleyan so that might help my admission chances.
As for what I can afford, my parents have been saving for college for a long time, and we are financially stable, although by no means wealthy.
the world is your oyster- you can literally apply anywhere and have a shot. But since you liked Brandeis and Wesleyan, let’s focus on similar places. But I wouldn’t think of it necessarily as diverse, and you seem to like a bit more urban flavor.
From the stats alone it seems like you might have a shot at top tier schools like U of Chicago, Columbia, Penn…but I don’t know the strength of your EC’s and letters…
