Looking for a journalism internship this summer. Do they ask for GPA and/or transcript? Should I switch to pass/fail?

So I’m a junior majoring in journalism and I’m looking for an internship for the summer now that this semester is almost over. I currently have a 3.7 GPA but I’m not doing as well in my classes as I usually do this semester (pandemic mostly). I only have an A in one class and I might get a C in one.

My university is doing pass/fail again this semester. Should I switch to pass/fail for all my classes except the one I have an A in? I just feel like in the journalism field having a higher GPA is more important then not doing pass/fail because jobs and internships want to look at your portfolio mostly, not transcripts and individual classes. I’ve also made Dean’s list twice if that means anything. Also the class I’m doing particularly bad in is for my minor (I kinda regret choosing the minor I did because it’s tougher than I thought it would be but the pass/fail would help me obviously).

In terms of internships (and jobs after I graduate frankly) I’m looking for just about any available position. I don’t plan on going to grad school/law school or anything like that. Any advice would be really appreciated. Thanks!

It’s been a long time, but I don’t recall publications caring about my GPA. Good tear sheets or a contact through a professor will matter more.

Why not take the pass fail in one class and get the grades for the rest

Clips and recommendations matter more than grades.
