Looking for a west coast art school

Ive wanted to go to CalArts for a few years, but i think with the admission rate and the vigorous schedule itll be impossible for me. Ill most likely have to work during college to keep up with dorm/housing fees or rent, and ive heard calarts days start fairly early in the morning and last until nighttime. I dont know if i can handle that, especially when you add work into the mix.

One thing is, my GPA is pretty bad, i havent taken the SAT yet but i know my GPA wont be wonderful by the time i have to start sending college applications. (i think its about a 1.7 right now)

Anyways, i want to get a BFA in animation. I’ve considered OTIS and LCAD, but ive gotten mixed reviews about those schools.

Another thing im worried about is price. I dont have a lot of money so i’m going to be relying on financial aid and scholarships as much as possible.

any advice at all is appreciated! thank you

Try your community college system. Ours offers an associates in digital animation, including a required internship in the field so you are job-ready.

When you can afford it later, get a BFA.

You have a 1.7 GPA on a 4.0 scale? I doubt you’re going to get much in terms of scholarship money. I’d recommend going to CC for a couple years, getting good grades, and applying to transfer to a 4-year university.
