Looking for an apartment

I'm transferring to UT from Texas State this summer. I'm commuting from San Marcos for the summer sessions but my lease ends the 31st of July and so I'm looking for a place to live up in Austin starting in August.

What are the apartments that students typically live in?

What are the price ranges?

Is there any that have rent around $650?

Do any of them set up random roommates?

I’m looking for the same thing, it seems tough to find an apartment which will match you with random roommates at a good price point.

There is a bunch of student housing on East Riverside. It’s further away from campus, but it’s much more affordable than West Campus. There are a lot of places on Riverside where you have to be a student to live there. Many also have great amenities and are on the UT bus route.` To name a few: Ballpark Apartments, Ion at East End, The Zone, University Village, University Estates, etc. I currently go to Texas State too and am trying to transfer to UT; these complexes are more like the big complexes common to San Marcos. Also, a good website to use is westcampusliving.com, it has a database with a bunch of off campus UT housing (not just on west campus).

I suggest you might want to do some research on crime in Riverside v. West Campus area.

[Crimes rates higher in East Riverside than in West Campus | The Daily Texan](http://www.dailytexanonline.com/news/2012/09/28/crimes-rates-higher-in-east-riverside-than-in-west-campus)
According to data from Austin Police Department crime analysts and the APD Crime Viewer database, the East Riverside community sees more incidents of most types of crime than the West Campus area, especially violent crime.

I’ve lived in Austin my whole life. Obviously, West Campus has less crime than Riverside (the “bad” part of town). I was just suggesting it as a more affordable option to West Campus. If you can afford West Campus, by all means, live there.
