Hey everybody,

I’m an incoming transfer student and right now my schedule is looking pretty busy. I am currently a Chemistry BA major, but that may change to one of many things, I’m just really not sure yet. Anyway, my schedule right now is Math 21C, Chem 128A (Organic Lecture), Physics 7A, and intro to environmental toxicology. (I don’t have an O-chem lab as I was late to register and couldn’t get it to fit in, will take next quarter). Anyway, I’m thinking about dropping the toxicology for something easier, and more fun. It sounded interesting to me, but I really want to be able to focus on those three big classes. Any suggestions on what try to get into during pass 2? Maybe something thats 4 units so I can have 15. (e-tox is 3 so i’m currently at 14). Thanks!

Not sure if you'll find it easy, but MUS 010 is pretty fun. I had it with Prof. Froh. It's 4 units and is about western classical music. You basically listen to classical music during lecture and learn vocabulary. You're required to watch a few concerts as well. Listening quizzes are a pain as you have to identify the artist, song, and a feature of the piece.

NUT 010 (Dicovery and Concepts of Nutrition) is pretty great as well, but very hard to get in. It's only 3 units, but the class revolves around the textbook (that the professor wrote herself). You don't even need to go to class because her slides are straight from the book and she podcasts her lectures online!

I'm taking ENT 001 as my fun class next quarter. It's about bugs and I hear there aren't any textbooks required to purchase. Yay! =P

Some other recommendations from friends would be FST 010 (Food Science) and Fables & Myths. Good luck!

ENT 1 is a good fun class - I took the ceramics section. It's insects in art... (I know.. odd combination), but it satisfies some Gen Ed requirements. It was a fun class, and really easy.. didn't have to stress about studying for it. Only thing was that the ceramics discussion/lab was way out in the middle of nowhere (off Hutchison, near the airport). The buses don't go out there - bike or car are the only options.

I've also heard NUT 10, and FST 10 easy introductory courses. Also that sex ed course... can't remember the class number though. I took FST 110b (without taking 110a or any other FST course) and it was an EASY A, I didn't even take the final and I got an A.

Intro to philosophy w/ adam sennet is hands down the easiest class you can take. You don't have to read anything in fact, the first day of class the professor held up the recommended books for the course and said "this is the recommended reading, I recommend you don't read it." All you have to do is attend lecture and anyone with a head on the shoulders should be able to get an A. It's also pretty informative and thought provoking. I can't stress enough how easy this class was, best choice I ever made.

Haha Pearlinthemist, I am taking EXACTLY what you took! How were the ceramics labs? It seems really long, but at the same time pretty fun. I'm really intrigued by insects so it should be a very interesting class for me. Are the labs really that far? I thought they were in the Horticulture building, or at least that's what it says in 'My Classes' at MyUCDavis.
