So, I just got finished auditioning for my top choices in MFA acting programs. I got a callback at NYU Tisch and had a really good audition/interview for A.R.T. at Harvard. I also attended the URTA’s and got interviews at a lot of schools I didn’t know much about. My favorites were UC Irvine, UTK/Clarence Brown Theatre, and East-15 Acting School in London. I was wondering if anyone had studied at these schools or had some insight into them. Also, if anyone else auditioned for any of these schools I would love to hear how it went and what your impression of it was. Thanks!
NYU does callbacks? Is that new? They didn’t last year- and my kid got in

Opera–my D auditioned at Tisch and ART last weekend for acting MFA programs. She thought she had a very good interview/audition with the ART folks and was also called back at NYU/Tisch. She had planned to go to Mexico with her boyfriend the day after the auditions–the Tisch folks sent her a text asking if she could come back again on the day that she was leaving for Mexico. She was really torn but sent a text back saying she was leaving the country and asked to reschedule. She hadn’t heard from them when she got on the plane and I haven’t heard from her since then either. In hindsight that might not have been the best decision on her part, but who knows.
In addition to the programs above, she also auditioned for Brown/Trinity. That was her last audition and she thought it was her best. She said the interviewer really worked with her and said “very good work” when she had finished. Those three were the only schools where she applied–she was thinking afterward that she should have cast a wider net. She didn’t go to URTA; her bff did go and got a callback from Case Western/Cleveland Playhouse, but none at UC San Diego or ACT (San Francisco). Good luck with the rest of the process!
I didn’t hear about anyone else getting a text to come back. Did she audition in New York?
Yes–she auditioned in NY. She’s back from Mexico, but hasn’t heard anything from NYU.
Just got an acceptance to the Harvard/ART Institute a few days ago. Just trying to keep you in the loop.
