Looking for matches/safeties in the Northeast with engineering programs

Hello there! I'm still looking for schools, although I've already applied to some. I've already sent in my EA applications to Northeastern University, University of Maine, and MIT, and I will be applying RD to Tufts and Brown. I'm also considering UVM. However, I'm a little worried that I'll end up only getting in to UMaine. I should be able to get into Northeastern, I think, but I'm a little worried because there are a very good number of people from my school applying as well.

I really want to stay close -- basically anything in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, or Massachusetts.

What I really need are match/safety schools with engineering programs.

Here are my stats, if it helps...

Thank you!!!

Desired College Characteristics:

Have you considered Rutgers?

Like I said, I’m hoping to stay close: Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, or Massachusetts.

Thank you though…

Anyone else?

I dont know if UCONN is too far from home , but it looks like a low match/safety for you.

[Undergraduate Catalog | UConn](<a href=“Undergraduate Course Directory | Undergraduate Catalog”>http://www.catalog.uconn.edu/engr.htm)

Also consider Boston University

I think you’ll certainly get into…Northeastern University, University of Maine, and UVM. Are you aware that the out of state publics won’t give you need-based aid to cover their high oos costs?

I’m aware. Cost is not an issue.

Many of the OOS Publics will offer you rather hefty Merit aid based on your scores.

For example at UCONN your scores would likely get half of your tuition paid for.

Be sure to call the admissions office and ask what the required scores are.

Well, UCONN isn’t exactly “urban” but a beautiful campus with a lot going on!

Would you consider looking at RPI in Troy, NY? Over the border from Bennington, VT…
RPI desires more female students! You might get some merit aid there, although not exactly “urban” either, but is close to Albany.

[College of Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of New Hampshire](http://www.ceps.unh.edu/) UNH

UNH in Durham, NH (not urban) but has a great theatre program if you are still into doing the theatre lighting as an EC or taking Theatre Craft, etc…

Have you looked at Worcester in western Massachusetts?

Rochester Institute of Technology
Worcester Polytechnic Insitute
U of Rochester
Boston University

UMass Amherst? Great engineering (#1 public program in New England), great college town (#1 in US) and not far from Northampton, 5 college consortium (you can take classes at Amherst, Smith, Mt. Holyoke and Hampshire Colleges). Yes, the campus isn’t as nice as UConn’s, but I would argue the surrounding area is nicer.
