Hello, I am trying to fund my education at New Mexico Tech and am reaching out to students and alumni of NMT to help with aid advice.

I recieved the transfer excel scholarship and the full FAFSA award, however I'm still very short. I estimate my cost will be up to 30,000 per year (includes room % board, food, etc), 20,000 after the grants. If you are a student or alum of NMT and can offer some information not available on the site, such as departmental scholarships and other opportunities or any information that you would have to be a student or alum to know please do.

Thank you very much in advance

Edit: I should specify that I intend to double major in physics and computer science.

I’m assuming you aren’t a CO resident or a resident of one of WUE states so wouldn’t qualify for one of those scholarships. To the best of my knowledge, there are no additional departmental or other scholarships at Tech.

Are you an independent student? If so, NMT tech will allow you to gain NM in state status after 12 months of residency while attending school full time. Another alternative would be to enlist in NM National Guard–that would grant you in-state status after (I think) 6 months.

Your COA estimate seems seems high. OOS tuition & fees for 1 year is $17074 and the 1 year room & board (on campus in dorms) is $7000. You can reduce your discretionary costs (travel, books, personal expenses) and find on or off campus employment to cover those.
