I want to stay in between Boston, Philly and Washington DC.
Any reccomendations for safeties and also other schools (reach or my level)

I currently have
EA
Georgetown (CHOICE SCHOOL)(a little bit of a reach I guess)
Super Reach- Harvard

RD
Brandeis
BU
Northeastern
UPenn

I'd call Harvard a high reach, but not a super reach. If it's safety schools you want, search for schools where you fall in the 75% percentile (GPA, class rank, SAT) of the most recently admitted class.

www.collegedata.com is an excellent database of all colleges, but since you might want more recent info, go to the websites of the colleges you're looking at.

No, Harvard's a super reach. The RD admit rate is 6%.

American might be a good safety. George Washington, Johns Hopkins, Tufts, and U Rochester are also worth looking into.

I am doing Harvard EA, and I thought I read that the chances there are a little bit better.

I tbink super reach should be reserved for people that are both way under the stats of the admitted class and applying to an ultra-selective school, I just don't think it's fair for people that do really well in school. I guess I'd have to see an SAT, but I'd call a 3.6 2000 25/110 Asian from New Jersey applying to Yale a super reach, I mean.

Smart move, Sen. I incorrectly assumed (bad thing to do!) you were applying EA to Georgetown since it's your first choice. Yes, applying SCEA to Harvard will give you a much better shot- they accepted 20.7% of the SCEA applicants this year. It will still be a reach, but it won't be impossible.

Whoops, my bad, I didn't do my research. I thought Harvard's EA policy allowed students to apply to other institutions EA. I'm gonna have to think about that one. If I can't research Colleges properly, maybe Harvard really is a super reach :). (I haven't toured Harvard yet, but I plan to in the next couple of weeks, I'm only 90 minutes from it. I have already toured Georgetown and loved it)

Ok, I think I'll apply to harvard RD, just to throw fifty bucks away. I know already I have little chance, but its just for heck of it.

To be honest, I would choose Georgetown over Harvard, I really have my heart set on it. If I can apply EA, and get in, I will be enthralled.

I just need some safeties and some level schools, so when I don't get into G-Town I'll fall back on that.

I liked Brandeis to and would be happy there (that school just seemed to fit me, plus I have a friend going their who can really tell me how it is)
