Looking for scholarships for Stanford

I was accepted into Stanford and they will pay $35000 toward cost. Any information about scholarships. I’m Native American and will be applying for the Gates Schlolarship. Looking for any others. I won’t apply for Indian Health Schloarship because my field of study won’t be covered.

What is the total Cost of Attendance before any aid?

What is your projected FAFSA EFC?

Have you checked all scholarships with your tribal affiliation?

Your family’s expected contribution is about $30k per year. How much will they pay?

Total projected Stanford budget $65400 Stanford will provide $32100. Net cost $33300. Parent contribution $27500 Student contribution is $3000 work/loan $2800. No tribal scholarships.

The Gates Mil scholarship is for low income only. Stanford offers tippity top need-based aid.

Either: you’re high income & thus don’t qualify for the GM. Or you’re low income but included an extra 0 in your income by accident on your aid-app/should’ve gotten more $

Do you have an idea of your parent’s efc and income? Is that what the net price calculator indicated? Did your parents, at that time, agree with the npc amount?
Most financial aid come from the college. Then you get federal aid - $5500 in a loan. Then you have state aid (sometimes) Everything else is peanuts.
Either you’re eligible for the Gates Millenium and filled out the fa form wrong, or your income is 150-180k or higher and you won’t qualify for Gates, so review that carefully.
You can work in the summer as well as during the year ($4000+2500) and take the full federal loan ($5500), and thus reduce your parents’ contribution to about $21,000. Living frugally, renting books or buying them used, buying plane tickets much in advance, would all shave off some money too.

Please clarify…

The student has a contribution of $5800 (loan/ws/etc). Is THAT what you’re trying to cover with merit scholarships?

Scholarships won’t cover the $27,500 parent contribution.

If you get outside awards that are greater than 5800, Stanford will start reducing their $32k grant.
