Looking for Scholarships!

So a lot of deadlines have passed; however, does anybody have a site or a list of scholarships I may apply to still? I am a first-generation hispanic student athlete who is interested in the medical field.

thank you!

Please follow these bumping guidelines: Don’t bump the day you post a thread, thereafter bump once every 24 hrs or if your thread is off the first page.

Check the Resources sticky thread on the Hispanic Students forum (under Admissions, Speciality Topics), although most deadlines will likely have passed.

Try some websites like fastweb.

Check with your high school guidance office. They might have information about local scholarships. Even those probably have deadlines looming.

How much money do you need? These are not usually very large amounts, and the vast majority are one time awards.

The best awards come from the colleges themselves.

Are you attending a UC? Are you instate or OOS?

I need anything I can get honestly! I am for sure attending a UC; however, I am not sure which one - UCLA, UCSD, UCD, UCI. I am instate.

You’ve been accepted to all those schools? Are you eligible for Blue-Gold?

Remember that college is for four years, so you need funding for all four. these private scholarships are usually only for freshman year. You may cobble enough together for year one, but then have to leave the school.

Yes, and I don’t think so since my parents make more than 80k.

M2C - Can you elaborate? Like drop out? Or?

From another post, looks like OP was rejected from UCLA. He was trying to figure out what to do about a deposit, and mentioned he was deciding between “Uc davis, irvine, sd, and I’m on the sb waitlist.”

How much money do you need to attend college? What is the total cost, and what have your parents said they could pay? (Surely you’ve had this discussion with them before now?!?! How did you think college would be funded?)

I forgot to put UCLA :expressionless: Sorry!

Well the average for each one would be about 15k - 18k to attend as I received a decent amount from Cal Grant. It will be difficult for my parents to pay, so they would have to take out loans and so will I…

Please PM me about this if possible, I need a lot of help about deciding what to do since the deadline is coming up!

Can you chip away at some of that shortage by working this summer? If your parents are willing to take out the loans (are they?) and qualify for them, then those loans plus your student loans look like the way your education will be paid for. Can your family financially handle that? Can they pay any cash towards your education before taking out loans?

I messaged you.

Just remember…this needs to be a four year financial plan. If you are going to be struggling with the finances every year, it’s going to get old very quickly. Also, remember that your cost to attend will likely increase about 3-5% every year. And most schools also increase their expected student contribution each year.

I posted a new thread on college search/selection and would like your input; thank you for those that have given input!

Where is your “new” thread? I searched for it, and didn’t see it.

Posting momentarily sorry!

Posted it!
