Hey guys, I'm currently an accounting major but am considering switching to finance. I just finished sophomore year so I haven't really taken any particular major courses, just college requirements. I have been considering going to law school, ideally to become an M&A lawyer. I got the chance to talk to a couple M&A lawyers and they both said accounting would probably be more useful than finance. That being said I figure a finance major and just a business education in general would still be helpful, albeit a bit less? On the drive home from school I started second guessing law school and now think I should be ready for a different career if I decide I don't want to do law school. I really liked my corporate finance class this past semester, and the material sort of came natural and just made sense to me. I go to Notre Dame and have a 3.9 gpa (4.0 in the business school). I have read across the boards a bit and have an idea of what a lot of you guys think about ND and ibanking. My understanding is that ND is better than most, but not among the very best (top 15?) with regard to being targeted. Anyways, given that ND is a pretty good school and I have done quite well, do you think I have good prospects for a career in ibanking?

(bump) please

where are all the veterans of the board at?

yes, you’re prospects are not bad. nd is somewhat of a target for midwest from my experience. your gpa is more than enough but try to get some relevant work experience. these days an ibanking internship after junior year is pretty much required in order to have a shot at BB. make sure you know what banking is all about for your interviews.
