Looking for the right fit for Pre-Vet

i’m a good student, pending SAT scores coming in this week, competitive for Ivy League. my goal is to be able to travel the world and help research/conserve animals. i was looking at Cornell with a Bio major with ecology & evolutionary bio concentration, but i’m also looking at a school that will give me scholarship money. i have been looking at possibly being a Conservation Veterinarian, so i’m looking into possibly going Pre-vet, but would want a school that is flexible with changing majors and also has a strong Biology major.

I was looking at University of Florida, any other schools you may know of?

It’s hard to determine “fit” without your scores, but consider for merit aid: BostonU, Emory, UMiami, Pitt, URochester, USC, Temple.

You’re in NY? Full tuition at SUNYs if you’re top 10% of your HS class and agree to work in a STEM field in NYS for 5 years after grad: http://www.hesc.ny.gov/pay-for-college/financial-aid/types-of-financial-aid/nys-grants-scholarships-awards/nys-science-technology-engineering-and-mathematics-stem-incentive-program.html

SUNY-Stony Brook is very good for ecology/biology.

Ok…you need to have your financial hat on.

That goal is noble, but low paying.

How will you be paying for undergrad and how will you be paying for vet school (expensive, student typically funds this thru loans).

If you have to borrow for vet school (like most do), then you’ll have $200k+ of debt. You’re going to have to earn a high income in order to pay THAT back.

What is your home state?

If you’re in NY, don’t bother with OOS publics for “pre vet” unless your stats are getting you huge merit (not Florida!).

How much will your parents be paying each year?

Are you low income?

would like to keep tuition below 30000 a year,

?

Is that the amount that your parents said that they’ll pay? If not, what does that mean?
