Looking for thoughts on son's chances Brandeis, etc

First-Thank you for all the information throughout this site.

I am just looking for some thoughts on my son's chances to the schools he has applied.
He has apllied to Emerson,Syracuse,Brandeis (reach),Wesylan (reach),Bard,Ursinus and is accepted at Rutgers.
Also Ithaca.
He applied for the Leadership scholarship and also the Park School Scholarship and will be applying for financial aid.
His SAT's were 1380.
He is in top 20-% of the class
AP-World history AP US History,Ap English Comp,Honors Enviromental Science along with other Honors courses in the past
(3 language years,3 math years)
He is a Commended National Merit Scholar.
He is interested in Broadcast journalism, photography, graphic design and production and psychology.
He doesn't have a first choice although Ithaca fits many of his needs-A smaller school with a solid communications program along with the ability to major or minor in another area (psychology)
The financial package will also be a huge deciding factor

He looks solid for Syracuse (I assume he applied to the Newhous school of communications), Ithaca, Bard Ursinis, and Emerson, but, of course, there are no guarantees. I would consider Brandeis and Wesleyan both reaches, however, although they are both VERY realistic reaches.

By the way, as an alumnus of the Newhouse school, I wanted to let you know that Newhouse makes Syracuse actually feels like a smaller school because you get to know everyone in Newhouse pretty quickly.

Thanks.
Yes he did apply to Newhouse . It has such a great reputation I was sure my son was going to love it but our visit there was a bit of a turn-off. At the info session the talk stressed the business side of the school and also basically bad mouthed the few other comunication programs here on the east coast. It was obnoxious. The HAll of fame is a bit much but impressive.

If he gets in- we will go back for another visit.

Any thoughts on the Park Scholarship for him?

I know one or two people heard on this forum from Ithaca-anyone else?

Newhouse does have that attitude, mainly because they arguably are the best undergrad journalism program in the Northeast, especially for broadcast journalism. I agree, however, that it can be obnoxious at times. I don't have any inside scoop on scholarships at Syracuse, sorry. I suspect, however, that he'll do very well on all accounts as he has a terrific list of schools. Best of luck to him!

From what I see this year, Brandeis is a reach but not impossible but the chances of financial aid look slim. However, my opinion carries no real weight; only the letter from the school does.
