yea i believe the earliest we can register for classes is orientation. i think we meet with academic advisors (i know it is mandatory for my major) at orientation before we register. but we are suppose to have an idea of what classes to take before we go.

When does the fall 2010 schedule come out?

I believe June or early July cause we have to know for Orientation.

Kender: So is housing guaranteed for winter transfers too?

Does anyone know when we move in? Like the weekend before classes or a week or what?I want time to explore before I get stressed :)

I’m pretty sure theres a week before classes start where we just get to mingle.

Yep Welcome Week!

Thanks Pscholler.

That’s good that we get a week before class starts. It will be a nice little vaca.

Hey guys…i will be going to UCSC in this Fall too…im going for Health Science major…for transfer students…do we have to live in transfer community???

Either in the transfer community or off-campus, yes.

That means no matter which college i rank…they just simply put me into the transfer community??

correctamundo. Its only if you want to leave.

As a transfer you will totally fit in at Santa Cruz. I was a freshman at Santa Cruz two years ago and my best friend was a transfer… the colleges have relatively small communities where it’s easy to make friends, and people are not judgmental towards transfers, which can be an issue at other colleges…

I was in Kresge and REPRESENT!

i hope i get to be associated with kresge!!

Hey, I’m also transferring into SC. My name is Lynnelle and I’m an anthropology major.

Anthro represent! Which subfield are you going into, iggy? Archaeology here.

I’m going into cultural anthro, Hadrian. What got you into Archaeology??

Well, I love history, and visiting the archaeological sites at Ephesus, Pompeii, and Herculaneum amongst so many others around the Mediterranean has been an awesome set of experiences. Anthropology gives me the option to be involved in history in an active field, beyond the ivory tower. For a while I was thinking of doing cultural anthro; what encouraged you to pick it?

That’s wicked awesome.

For me? I love people, I love learning about people even though I was really shy and quiet. I took a cultural anthro class in my second semester and it was an eye opening experience because suddenly there was a whole world out there that I never knew about, and it just made perfect sense that I should want to travel and experience them first hand, ya know? Something you can’t get out of a textbook or pictures online or whatever.

And I want to be able to help with cultural awareness in order to promote tolerance and such so stuff like what’s happening in Arizona can be avoided, or at least approached differently.

I wish more people would join the Facebook group! :)

Me too! I know there is more than 13 transfers, or however many are on that group. There is more than 13 on college confidential alone I’m sure.
