I currently attend the University of Colorado - Boulder and I'm hoping to attend columbia's mba school. my question is would i be at an advantage to transfer to columbia as an undergrad? i feel it would be easier to transfer then being that i can work out a deal with the wrestling coach plus my grandfather got his phd at columbia.

You would probably be better off simply applying directly to business school (though after undergrad, as people generally don't attend business school directly after graduation). The acceptance rate for transfers into Columbia's undergraduate schools is infinitesmally small, so it would hardly be worth going through a more difficult process simply to obtain what is certain to be only a slight (if any) advantage in business school admissions.

Of course, I'm not really aware of what this "deal" between you and the wrestling coach consists of (are you just thinking about it or are you actually in contact?) but something along those lines could indeed make the transfer process easier. I still don't think, though, that it would really be warranted simply to attend Columbia Business School.

I have an MBA from Columbia business school, Columbia isn;t even the most represented undergrad school at CBS. All of the Ivies are very well represented. Also, I was one of the youngest in my class and I was 24 when I started, so you'll need work experience regardless. My advice is to go to ANY top 20 school, get a top job, a good GMAT, and after a few years of work experience get into the MBA program.
