Looking to find out how hard it is to get into the advertising major

I'm down to deciding between ucf and uf for advertising, and ucf is super selective. Only letting in 40 students a semester. Also wanted to know what the major is like.

My daughter just changed her major to advertising at UF. It’s in the College of Journalism, and she didn’t have any trouble getting in. She’s a few credit hours away from being a junior, and since her grades are good (especially in the courses they were interested in), they let her switch right away. She has several friends who just graduated from J school, some in PR, some in advertising, and some in mass media, I think. They were all very happy with the J college…That school seems to have very helpful and caring professors, and all of her friends who’ve graduated have gotten good jobs. I’m sure there are students who can tell you more, but based on what I’ve seen so far, I’m very supportive of my D’s decision to change her major.

Thanks for your input. Did she have any trouble getting internships? I don’t really know much about the type of city Gainesville is. Also how does she enjoy uf? I’m not one for college football, so I thought I might not enjoy it there as much as I would other schools that aren’t as focused on that.
