Alright so basically I am an upcoming Junior in high school. I’m so nervous about the school that I will get into. I want a great school to study business. I currently have a 94 GPA and I haven’t taken any AP or honors classes except Honors Spanish in 10th grade. This year though I am taking AP History, AP English, and AP Spanish. All other classes are regular. I also am an active member in the Spanish Club. I play varsity soccer and track and field and I am looking to play basketball this year. I am also a first generation American. Both my parents are from South America. So basically I want to know what my chances are and what I need to do to get into one of the schools I have out below. And also if I ED to one of these schools would that help?
Schools I really want to get into: Princeton, Columbia, NYU,
Without test scores it is impossible to give you any reasonable assessment. NYU is, of course, easier to get into than Princeton or Columbia. I would say you are not really on a great track for those two, since you haven’t been taking even honors classes in core academic courses. Your ECs are also fairly pedestrian for those schools.
Do you know about running net price calculators on each school’s website on the financial aid page? You should do this with your parents for each college you look at over the next year. NYU gives very poor need-based aid, so if you need it, you may want to take them off your list.
Too early. Need to see how those AP classes go. Nothing to make it a NO yet, but the Ivies are a reach for everyone. Are you good enough at soccer or track to participate at the D1 level? If so, get on that. If not, just plant to get all As and do as well as you can on tests. No guarantee, but you have to do as well as you possibly can to have a shot. Good luck.
