Hey,
Currently i am a freshman at a top tier private school, although it is somewhat off the radar. To give you an idea of the level it is as..The Princeton Review under the similar schools list. It compared it to Boston College, Boston University, Brown, Bucknell, Carnegie Mellon, Cornell, Harvard, Lehigh, MIT, NYU, Northeastern, Penn State, Princeton, RPI, Tufts, and Villanova. On US News it ranks in the top 90. I am majoring in Business & Technology, while the school is mostly specialized in engineering. Currently I expect to have about a 3.8-4.0 after my first semester. Which includes A's in calculus and microeconomics. I am also playing a varsity sport there. My high school grades are my weakness. I had about a 2.7-2.8 from a top tier private school(where about 40% of my class went on to Ivys or other premier schools). My SATs were a 1880 (Math 750, Reading 560, Writing 570). I plan on retaking them and improving them. I had alot of ec's in high school (10 seasons of sports. 2 time captain. junior class vice president. and over my years have had a fair share of volunteer work) I have had two jobs both in retail. I am looking to transfer for my sophemore year. I was thinking to applying to UVA (mother went there and in-state), UNC, Villanova, Georgetown, Virginia Tech (In-state), JMU (brother went there and in-state), and NYU. Let me know what you think. I realize the level of these schools.

If you get that high gpa then your college work will be competitive, but as a sophomore transfer your HS record will also be heavily considered. I suggest applying for junior year so that your HS record doesn’t matter as much
