<p>Yeah some of the absolute best math/science people I have ever had the honor of working with got rejected from MIT this year. People who I know will, with MIT or not, invent some useful crap that changes the world. The right-brained types, or at least the people who had pretty damn good quantitative acheivements and skills, and managed to fake this huge quirky, artsy appeal, got the spots. My school provides a pretty large case study, and I also have family in some top tier places, one in admissions, so I'm not completely just pulling this out of my ass. The order is still there; massacring is happening, but it's not a cluster****, you just need to yourself and yourself has to be extraordinary. And I'm not trying to be arrogant; I withdrew my MIT application about 2 months ago to save the spot for someone else.</p>
