I am a senior, and of course, starting to receive decisions. I’ve been accepted to institutions like UCSD, UCD, NEU, UCR, UCSB. However, I’m not feeling happy at all. I understand these are great schools, but to me, I expect so much more from myself. I have been rejected from every school I really want to go to. Don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful for what I have. But with my stats, I expect more from myself. Those are all safety schools. I still have decisions coming, but how I do get myself out of this low?
well, someone I know thought of UCD as a safety school and didn’t get in XD
According to ranking that considers life quality after graduation, UCSD took the first place, so that’s a bright side
(I’m March 30’d there)
but after all, your college name doesn’t represent yourself, especially if you’re thinking of graduate school.
Time to embrace the schools that embraced you.
You have the power to have an amazing academic and social experience at any of the schools you have been accepted into. Or you can decide to sulk and make yourself miserable. Personally, I’d choose moving forward and having a great college experience.
This might sound harsh, but maybe while your stats look great to you, lined up next to the competition, they could be lacking. Maybe your essays weren’t as good as you thought, or your teacher recs, or your ECs. Who is Northeastern a safety school for these days? Time to be grateful that you got accepted to some great schools.
Go ahead and feel sad about the rejections, that’s only natural. But then move on. As others have said, you can get a great education and have a wonderful four years at any of the schools that have accepted you. Good luck.
You have been accepted to some great schools. It is normal and natural to feel disappointment when you are not accepted by any school. There are many strong students out there, and all (almost all) of them will be denied admission somewhere. It speaks volumes that you set high goals for yourself and worked hard throughout high school. Allow yourself a moment to be disappointed, then pick yourself up, dust yourself off and figure out which of the great schools that have accepted you is the one for you.
Often it is better to be the Big Fish in the Small pond…go to one of those fine schools that accepted you and shine! Do research! Get to know professors! Be a leader!
