sigh... depressed.

uber disappointed..

Rejected early from Penn ED - Wharton
Rejected from UCLA
Rejected from Berkeley

Waiting on Cornell, Princeton and Columbia.

Getting ready for Community College.

Man.. kind of depressed after trying so hard in high school, only to go to community college. It makes me even more sad that all my peers got into their first or second choice school.

I am hearing many stories about people with lower GPA and SATs getting into Berkeley and LA.

GPA: 4.4
SAT: 1840
Rank: 20/550

My question is.. How to overcome the grief. :\ sigh.

I'm sorry. :(

But why didn't you apply to any safety schools?

Well.. i knew that i wasn't going to be satisfied going to the other UC's. The campus's didn't click the way that UCLA and Berkeley did for me.. I thought i would have been fine if i just went to Community College, which i am. I am just a bit disappointed that everyone i know DID get in.. and i didn't.

adding insult to injury, I personally know of 7 cases in which people had lower scores/gpa than me.. and got in. :(

Well, just because their GPAs and SATs are lower doesnt mean that they are less qualified than you are. I remember posting an "admissions theory" topic in the UCLA section. I said it was only unfair if a person with a 3.3 GPA, 1300/2400 SAT, and barely any EC's got in over a 2200+ and 4.2 GPA person (or a somewhat similar situation). If the gaps are indeed that high in your situation, then I'd have to say that I feel for you.

Also, other UC schools are still very good. UCSD is an awesome school with in a great city. It has a great bioengineering program and awesome research capabilities.

I think that you applied to way too many schools that were crapshoots.

However, I also posted stuff about how SAT scores shouldn't matter. I personally believe that the SAT really does nothing to predict or show your future career potential. You have a good GPA, so don't give all hope yet (as long as you took challenging courses in HS).

agreed.. COD4.. agreed.

well.. 1 person that comes to mind got a 4.0 with 1 AP class and 1600 on her SATs..
500 on sat2s.. got into berkeley. :(

every school you had was a reach with that score...my condolences, good sir. why not apply to the UCs for the spring semester?

Agreed. enderkin u sure have a way of making someone feel swell! :D

well your SAT score isnt really the best. If i had that score with your grade, My match would be UCDavis and Irvine while my reahc would be San Diego, LA, and berkeley.

it's just a gift i suppose =P

hahahaha.. ur making me feel a little better with ur sense of humor :D

You shouldn't have downplayed UCSD. I'm straight-up telling you that it is a pretty neat school.

SD is a bit too close to home.. plus i know a lot of people that aren't very happy with the quality of females over there if u know what i mean ;)

Are you kidding me? Go to the city of San Diego and look around. Plus SD has the Chargers and Padres.

Me too. Community college isn't bad. Its easier that way to transfer so just think of it as a blessing in disguise?

yeah..
the "I'm going where i belong" ideology is sinking in for me :)

ucla admissions were brutal this year. so many deserving candidates got rejected...sad.

zehpanda are those the only schools you applied to?

meh... i got rejected 2 with decent stats and a lot of hooks so its like w/e. But yea u shouldve applied to UCD / Irvine /CalPoly imo

yeah those are the only schools i applied to ;)
