Loss of sleep due to homework. How do you get more than 7 hrs on a school nite?

mmm. not very healthy at all. imo.

I recommend quitting something because you will look 50 at 30.

I get around 8 -9 hours every school night. and I still have taken 10 AP courses.

I pick and choose what to do and take the "hit" where I need to.

for instance, if i have a 20 point quiz on 50 pages of text, i'll skim for 10 minutes. it's not worth my time. i bag the prize when i get a 100 on the test, though.

Yeah, Spanish 2 can easily be done in class. Biology maybe as well. Use your lunch period to get stuff done. If you get reading for Brit Lit, succumb to sparknotes every now and then.

theres always wake up later and maybe make it to school late a few days.

Read (eng. lit) in Bio when the teacher is going over notes, showing examples, or movies.

Work during lunch

Study before Volleyball practice if they give you 30-40 minutes

When your at home, your homework needs to be your main focus. Turn off your phone and the tv.

You still may not get 7 hours. I usually don't and I don't have nearly has much homework as you. I'm easily distracted, though.

I am surprised that you are spending any more than 2 hours total of homework. As stated above, Spanish II and Biology can be done in school. The only course you with which you should really be doing anything at home is AP M-Euro, which should take about an hour for reading every two nights.
I get anywhere from 7 to 13 hours of sleep a night, depending on my workload...and I take three AP classes.

You only have 4 subjects and you can't do the work? Damn... I'm stuggling, but that's because I have 10 and get home by 5:30 on days I don't have extra-curricular activities. Dude, good luck in college then-- The problem might me that you get too distracted.

I'm so angry... American HS are so fecking easy.

7 hours is amazing.
i usually get 5.

try to sneak homework during class, you might as well be doing something while you're bored.
at lunch too.

How can you possibly sleep for 13, that would mean that youd have to go to bed at 5. No way am I going to bed before 10/11, I like my tv and going out. Skimp on the homework, its worth it.

At times, when I am very tired, I will do such things (the 13-hr sleeps only happen about twice a year). The day my 10th grade year ended I slept for 16.

Are you sure AP Euro is taking you two hours and Brit Lit is taking you 2+ hours EVERY night? Or are you taking loads of small breaks during those time periods? Because that doesn't seem realistic to me--what kind of homework is assigned that it'd take you 2 or more hours every single night?

If anything, maybe you just have to work at working quicker. I'm in AP Euro as a senior and the sophomores do complain about the workload yet I work on the subject only 2-3 hours a week. So, maybe it'll get easier with time?

Another thing is, I think it's a mindset. If all you are thinking while doing your homework is how stressed out you are/how you need more sleep, then it'll take you longer to get through it all.

Personally, I don't sleep more than 6 hours a night during the week because I spend a lot of time procrastinating/reading MY books. But then I always make sure I have minimal weekend plans (strains some friendships, but whatever) so I can sleep as much as I want. Fridays after school around 4pm I go to sleep until around noon on Saturday. Healthy? Probably not. But awesome.

Haha...in 11th your sleeping time will decrease even more. I average about 4-5 hours/nigh, but I make up it on the weekends. I remember bio class and the home work was pretty easy. Spanish 2 homework should take no more than 15 minutes, and I never picked up the Euro textbook past november. It's fairly easy to find outlines for your book. If you can't, tell me the name and I'll get them for you.

And CBA, that 4pm to noon thing is pretty awesome.

Are you honestly spending two hours on each subject every night? Either you aren't working efficiently or your teachers are just plain crazy. If the first is true, turn off the iPod, the computer, the TV, anything that distracts you. If the second is true, you're just gonna have to find ways to do the homework in less time. You could skip it some nights, when you know you don't need to turn it in, or if you have readings, skim through them quickly and find summary notes in the internet.

CBA321: The sleeping from Friday to Saturday thing sounds like a dream. :D

Drop some activities and Honors/AP classes. I was the high-strung salutatorian back in the day, but all of you make my old self look like Ferris Bueller in comparison.

You also need to learn how to PROPERLY cut corners in your work. I had to cut corners a lot in my postsecondary education. If I insisted on doing everything perfectly (the K-12 mentality), I would have needed 10 years to earn my BSEE and 5 years to earn my MSEE.

I think I sleep for like 7 hours a week...sleep is for the weak.;)

Sparknotes and I are best friends to the end.

yeah i've been living off of 6 hours of sleep per school night for the past 3 1/2 years

^^^Lucky one up there.

That is the point of elite college admissions...who can stay up the longest in order to take as many APs and participate in as many ECs as possible while still maintaining straight As. The one that wins is the one that can sleep the least and function at their highest level the next day.

Haha

i'm a sophomore takin the same classes; i get home from tennis ~4:30
play CS for an hour
do my hw in 1.5-2 hours
eat, random studyin, chilling, then...

get in bed at 10
SLEEP !!!!!

hey cliff hanger - do you go to Uni High?
