Yes! I’m realy looking into Scranton right now. It seems to be a perfect fit for what im looking for. I’m just trying to get some other ideas for possible matches

I’m on this site for my daughter who is going into senior year. I also have a son that just finished his freshman year of HS and is also a baseball player. I don’t see DI in his future but starting to think about a possible fit for him in a few years. Here’s a few more off the top of my head:

springfield college in MA
susquhana in PA
York college of PA
Lebanon valley in PA (great baseball facilities for DIII LOL). these are all DIII and not very competitive academically. Scranton as mentioned above is a bit more competitive though I don’t think you’d have any trouble getting in.

a better academic school would be Muhlenberg, also DIII I believe. I’m sure you know all the DI programs in the NE, both big and mid-major - Manhattan, Iona, Marist, Siena, etc.

I heard something recently that really makes sense - “the best way to play college baseball is to either A) kill the SAT’s or B) throw 90” LOL.

I keep trying to impress upon my son that if your academics are high you will open up an entire different category of schools that will eliminate a lot of other players. Assume you won’t be a nationally recruited player, now you need the grades to help you land a spot.

You should definitely go to the headfirst showcase on L.I. next month

Yea I’m going to retake the sat to hopefully get a 1200 on the 2 part. That seems to be the bench mark for alot of schools that have contacted me for baseball (and football for that matter). The head first showcase isn’t going to work out for me sadly because my team is at diamond nation for the blue chip tournament

ndfbfan13, From the above mentioned poster, York college of PA had a good baseball team when i went there. Not sure how it is currently.

Thank you fendergirl… Also guys I have good news my gpa is a 3.3!! Any other suggestions now?

Bump!!!

How about Quinnipiac or Marist? Ithaca? URI? James Madison?

I actually visited Marist and loved it but I thought it was more of a reach

Marist was originally on our list as well, but just remember it is D1.

Yea that would be incase baseball doesn’t work out. But so far I’m getting a great deal of interest from d3 colleges!

The only downside to D3 schools is that they don’t offer scholarships.

D3 schools don’t offer scholarships through sports, but they offer through academics if one qualifies.

Also if D3 schools want you athletically, they have ways to give scholarships such as leadership, etc. They just can’t call it an athletic scholarship.

Yea that’s what the coaches I spoke with said. They said that they " take care" of the athletes form the most part. My question is do they tell you about these scholarships before hand or after you apply to the school?

Different schools may handle it differently, but from what I have heard, they are part of your award package that comes either with your acceptance or shortly after you have been accepted. I don’t think they can guarantee anything before you are actually accepted by the college.

O okay that makes sense. By the way does anyone have any ideas for safeties because with my current gpa it is extremely tough to find safeties
