I wish to join the airforce throught the acadamy… but with a GPa of 3.2 i dont know if i can!!! what diffrent programs do they have, and anyone who knows how the Flacon Foundation works or the Prep School works please tell me.

i have good credintials, i hve my billy mitchel in the CAP and i do 10 hours of volunteer work a weekend. my plan with is a pre ACT test gave me a projected score on my ACT of 22-26 and i have taken all colage Prep classes. I also run track.

HELP ME!!! what diffrent things can i do to make up for my GPA?

what diffrent programs are available, to increease my chances?

Ill have around 600 hours of community service by senior year.

if you go to the Air Force acadamy, or ROTC what do you want to Major in if you want to be a pilot? and how do you pay for pilot school and what are the credintials?

As far as your major to become a pilot, it doesn't matter. You could major in business and be a pilot. If by letter of recommendation from the president or vice president you mean nomination, then there is an application process. The presidential nomination is for military families.

Well I think AFROTC would be your best bet. If you worked your butt off you could possibly get a scholarship after your first year.

It doesn't matter what you major in to become a pilot. Personally, I think engineering gives people an advantage because it gives them those math skills and logical thinking skills to be able to think and react quickly. I also believe an engineering degree in Aerospace or Aeronautics would help, because it would allow you to understand the physics of flight when you are learning to fly.

All the education in the world won't make you a great pilot though.

Oh yah, CAP really won't help you, since it's only two blocks on the application. Baseops has some good info, but never, ever say you are a CAP cadet (or JROTC cadet) or you will get eaten alive.

I am in 10th grade. I am doing all i can to get my scores up, the projected was that low because of english sadly, on my science i made a 97% witch means out of every 10th grader in the country i made higher than 97% of them. my math scored higher than 73% and i am planning on workingon that, along with taking calculus before i exit highschool i will take the most advanced maths and sciences we have at our school (witch is a 6a school) in the next 2 years, i will take physics and calculus and chemestry. you can read this and understand i need to get my english up, and that will be a synch. i talked to my counclor he said with my english and reading scores up i would easly make a 30 on the ACT

Oh yah, CAP really won't help you, since it's only two blocks on the application. Baseops has some good info, but never, ever say you are a CAP cadet (or JROTC cadet) or you will get eaten alive.

what do you mean blocks? and why would i get eaten alive? im thinking since its an auxillary of the airforce and all... and you get to fly.... having the billy mitchel is like bieng an eagle scout

Yah, your English is horrible for a 10th grader, no offense. If you study really hard you can greatly improve your English score. I improved mine by 5 points. Also, I wouldn't say a 26 is horrible and would ruin your chances like raimus posted, because I know a few people that were accepted with 26's. I only scored 1 better with a 27, but I will be retaking it.

my balls hit the floor when i read that... This is a huge dream for me and i am trying everything to get in... my IQ is 132 so me trying is really trying what all do you think i could do to get my chances up? i mean imll have 600! HOURS
thats alot of help i would expect, i am in 2 clubs running track, will be head of track club, tell me anything. the councler of the usafa told me she let a guy in who almost failed 9th grade but got his act together like i am planning to do... but i want to do everything i can what all could i do?

It asks how long you were in, and how far did you make it, and nothing else. You are right, CAP is an auxillary of the USAF, but not many AD people care for it; they think "it's for homosexuals". I'm sorry but CAP is not going to be your golden ticket into the USAFA...

Oh yah, I'm a cadet in CAP with the grade of C/SrAmn, and yes I do take flying lessons through CAP.

my expected GPA will be around a 3.0-3.3 so im hoping to nip it in the bud with my SAT and ACT scores, and i am getting a letter of recomendation from my uncle who retired from the airforce(the usafa councler told me it was a good idea) and from a senator and congressmen, i project my act to be atleast a 28 or 29 once i get my english and readin up... i mean a 25 out of 26 on the science part is extreamly great. i only missed 1 question, and i heard the airfroce looks at science and maths the most.... so... and i only did adverage on the math cause i dont knwo how to do percentages, cause i had the flue the week we learned them... i made a 13 on the test on them im planning on going to tutoring to learn my math that i didnt know

yes you cant take calculus unless its AP, and comon sence tells you that the CAP will count worth something, i mean you learna bit about the air force, and you get to fly!

Well what grade are you? Your Wing has set-up requirements that you must meet before you can fly, and you still have to have it all approved by Wing.

I would suggest getting involved in some sports like football, basketball, baseball, and track; defintely get a varsity letter! A varsity letter is way more important than CAP. Grades>Sports>CAP.

I've been in CAP for almost two years and only have made it to C/SrAmn. Why you ask. It's because I have focused on much more important stuff such as my grades, sports, work, and flying.

Oh yah, the USAFA doesn't really care so much about flying, they want to see leadership, but it is a plus!

i am in 10th grade, i am also going to run track this year, im not possitive if we have a varisty track.... in the Grades>Sports>CAP. where does volunteer work come in, and where does things like key club, and enviromental science club come in?

I know that leadership is definatly something they look for, probaly just a notch below sports. Its good if you varsity in a sport, but its even better if you varsity in a sport and are the captain of the team. If your not the captain of your sport's team, you can seek leadership positions though clubs and volunteering. Generally the more of this the better. But as said in previous posts, the academy wants to see you excel in at least one thing(more the better), so make sure that whatever you do your very active and are an participant.
