Any words of wisdom about chances applying to U of M with only a 22 ACT but a 4.0 (weighted) GPA? From a very rigorous MN suburban high school, a few AP/IB classes, gymnastics captain, leadership positions, many volunteer hours. brother and parents both went to U of M. Can’t seem to shake a 22 so far:(
@Chiefster72 It may depend on what college at the U she is applying to. Do you happen to know what she’s interested in? She could possibly be a candidate for CLA but CBS, CSE, or CSOM would be a stretch with the 22 ACT even with the weighted GPA. The U’s average ACT is around 27, however the average is lower for CLA, CEHD, and CFANS (maybe 23-28?). But, I’ve been wrong before so certainly don’t dictate it from just what you see on the forum. You could always talk to one of their counselors by giving them a call too.
She needs to have a list of matches & safeties she’d be happy to attend. Start looking for then now. Her odds are slim with that score. Has she tried the SAT?
Henxnr, my son is in CEHD because he did not get into Carlson (3.6 and 30 ACT) and is very happy with the business program there so my daughter is thinking of doing that as well so… at most CLA but would be perfectly happy in CEHD which I know is a lower acceptance. She knows a 22 won’t get into into anything more than that:)
