I was wondering what my chances are for getting into Depaul University if my gpa is 3.1 but my act score is a 22. It makes me nervous that my act score is sort of low but Depaul is my number one choice and i would be very upset if i did not get in.

DePaul no longer requires you to submit your test scores, but they are optional. Because of Depaul’s “Vincentian values”, they want to know what kind of person you are and what you can contribute to the society… which test scores cannot measure.

I just graduated from DePaul and I took the SATs; however, after hearing fellow students talking about their test scores, some of them got in with a 3.0 GPA and 28 ACT. I think if you have a strong background in extracurricular activities, you could have a chance of getting accepted. Otherwise, I would retake the ACT.

In reply to the first post, I would like to clarify that I am the Communications Intern for the Office of Admissions and work very closely with many of the admissions counselors. I would not have any worries, how DePaul Admission Counselors review applications in on a holistic approach. This means that when reviewing a student’s application, the counselors will not zero in on one particular score or number. They truly consider every factor of a student from grade trends, to extra-curricular activities, to even if the student held a job outside of school.
Hope this resolves any apprehension!

Yup, you don’t need to send in your ACT score I think you just need to write another essay, but i’m not even sure about that!

In lieu of not submitting an ACT score, there are additional essays that are required.

Cassie Snyder
