Hi!
It’s just like the title says;I’m a high school junior with a pitiful GPA.
I haven’t taken the SAT or ACT yet but I’m predicting at least above average scores (my PSAT was 210 and the English section was a near 100% correct). I live in Texas and I really don’t want to end up going to community college.
Are there any -any- universities at all that’ll take me?
Just some extra info: All of my classes have been either honors or AP; my high school doesn’t offer regular classes. On my AP test I’ve gotten 3s and 4s.
Preferences for college are out of state but I’m fine with getting the name of any that’ll take a chance on me.
Why not in state? You have lots of colleges to choose from. UT Dallas is one of them
There are schools that will accept you. You need to find out how much your family will pay. that will largely determine where you should apply.
^ Agreed. If you have enough money there are always schools willing to accept a student.
There is a thread on the Parents Forum that discusses options for students with a 3.0. Some of those might work for you as well. Go scroll through that forum until you find it, and read it for ideas.
Well your PSAT is like 97th percentile so you can expect at least 2200 on the SAT. Also, your AP scores are slightly above average. What this tells me is that your school has a difficult grading policy. In that case, admissions will look at your class rank and school profile as context for your GPA. So in short, you’re a better student than your GPA indicates.
