Im a sophomore right now and I really want to get into a good university like Georgetown, USC, or UMD-CP, but my gpa freshman year was 3.0 and my gpa as of now my gpa is 3.47 for the 1st quarter. If I increase my gpa every year but still end up with an average around 3.4...can I still get into those top schools with an upwards trend?

A 3.4 overall GPA is on the low side for the schools you mentioned, even with an upwards trend. Of course, there are many other factors that could come into play, such as test scores, how rigorous the courses you've taken are, etc.. And, of course, there are many excellent schools who will look favorably on an upwards trend in GPA, so don't limit yourself just yet to "top" colleges. Keep an open mind, make sure your list is built on a solid foundation, and, then, if you want to take a shot at the three schools you mentioned, you will have little risk in doing so. Best of luck -- great job moving that GPA upwards.

Do a sport or put yourself into extra-curricular activities that will stand nicely next to your gpa. It's not too late.

Keep working and you'll have some good choices with respect to college/university. Don't spread yourself too thin...do activities that you enjoy and excel in.

Hang in there, and good luck.

I have an upward trend going on with my GPA as well. 2.9 to 3.4, the few admissions officers I've talked to like that fact that you didn't give up and you are trying to better yourself. Good luck.

Well upward trends show improvement.
