low gpa, but upwards trend

Im a sophomore right now and I really want to get into a good university like Georgetown, USC, or UMD-CP, but my gpa freshman year was 3.0 and my gpa as of now my gpa is 3.47 for the 1st quarter. If I increase my gpa every year but still end up with an average around 3.4...can I still get into those top schools with an upwards trend?

take as many AP and honors courses as possible.

get good grades from now on.

get good SAT and SAT II grades and pray they over look your old grades.

lol well ur a sophmore iono why ur paranoid right now. the problem is this, USC has many more female applicants then male applicants. their average is a 3.8 (uw) and a 2100. Even with a 3.4 average and this upward trend your still way below average gpa range meaning ull have tos core 2300ish to be competive. And dont assume anything. U take harder classes junior year, ur gpa plans can be foiled and you havent even taken your SAT's yet which will greatly determine where u stand for privates.

It's difficult to tell because you have'nt mentioned much but your gpa right now is still pretty low for those Georgetown and USC. Colleges do like to see an upwards trend, especially your junior and senior years but it's more like a 3.5 to a 3.9 trend.

thanks anyone else?
