Low GPA, High SAT any chance

Hello everyone. As the title suggests I have very low GPA of 72%(top quarter of my class) due to the fact that I suffered from Malaria during the final examinations (Physician recommended Bed rest, but well, I nevertheless appeared for the examinations) Added to all this, I’m an International student(Indian). If I successfully score more that 2300 in SAT, do I have a shot in any of those top schools??
My EC’s are pretty good:
Boxing 2 yrs, vocal music-9 years(3 diplomas from an Indian institution) Instrumental music- 2 years, IMO and NSO gold medalist, fluent in 3 programming languages

What colleges are you looking at specifically? I think you have practically no chance at Ivies/MIT/Stanford.
Though you have a chance at good state universities.
Also, are you a full-pay student or are you seeking financial aid?

You posted an identical query on another thread. Please see my reply there. Basically, you need to define “top schools,” and present actual, not hypothetical, test scores. Nobody has a really good shot at the most elite American colleges, and the competition among Indian students is especially ferocious.

@outlooker I’m a financial aid applicant too. I’ll apply in sub-ivies (Vanderbilt, Cornell, Duke colgate, etc)

Financial aid is difficult, if not impossible, for foreign students at some of those colleges, so you should check each one individually. Duke is almost as selective as any “Ivy” (Cornell is a member of the Ivy League, incidentally). Vanderbilt is known for placing a great deal of importance on standardized test scores, and so nobody can “chance” you without actual results.

SAT score is one of Vanderbilt’s five factors of admission, and SAT is VERY important along with GPA, probably more important than it is for other colleges with similar selectivity.

Get the actual result and please don’t put hypothetical situation. It is already difficult to guess chances of students with actual stats at such schools.
