Low GPA, high SAT - chance me for Harvard, John Hopkins, Tufts? I'll chance back!

Honestly comparing with other kids might not work because others would get the answers wrong too? Do you know CollegeBoard actually pays people who made up wrong answer choices that have the most answered? That means you and the others could get some particular questions wrong altogether. I’m pointing these questions out not because I don’t trust your data posted on CC, but I think you should’ve said you’re just estimating a 2400.

Unfortunately I am going to have to disagree here. Don’t worry, everyone posts different statistics on different threads sometimes. We’re all human; It is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. But no worries - when October 28, 2014, comes, the date official SAT scores come out (for the test date of October 11, 2014), we will know for certain!

I wouldn’t trust whatever your counselor tells you to do. I am not sure how knowledgeable your counselor is with the reality of college admissions, but truth is many counselors are not. It’s best to get a variety of opinions so you can make your own decisions.

ED is good if you want to go to that school more than anywhere else. Do not apply if the school is financially unfeasible though.

You have violated the contract you made with the College Board.

@Ctesiphon I’m pretty sure I posted the same statistics on all my threads. This thread is actually a direct copy/paste of my old ones with a few additions. My counselor is very knowledgeable about college admissions, and I would trust her opinions probably more than those of anyone else. And yeah, but then again lots of kids “violate the contract.” I don’t know one person who has taken the SAT and has not talked about the answers or the essay prompt.

“I also compared my answers after the test with other kids, and our answers match up.”

What a dangerously stupid thing to say…

@1939er Can you see this? You might’ve “ignored” me; when you ignore someone you can’t see their posts.

Well, that is most certainly untrue. It was just a bit confusing because I wasn’t exactly sure which numbers were your GPA / Test Scores There is no need to defend yourself - you’re only human. I am human too, and I have probably made mistakes in my past or something too.

Then I do not think you need to be “chanced” by internet strangers with such a good counselor. She can likely provide you with the most accurate information - go through with your previous plan of seeking her help!

I know people that have taken the SAT and have not talked about the answers. The SAT says that any and all answer sharing is a violation of the contract you signed. It does not say: if everyone you know also cheated it is no longer against the rules.

<a href=“Digital SAT Test Security and Fairness – SAT Suite”>The SAT – SAT Suite | College Board;

Good luck kittycatyeah!

@Ctesiphon‌ I’ll have to say I agree with you. At least I myself hadn’t talked about questions in the SAT for once, and kittycatyeah shouldn’t say that because this is a public forum. If anyone of us report you to the CB, your score can be easily be in trouble.

And yes, if you trust your counsellor that much, why this Chance thread. I post Chances only because I don’t have any counsellor knowledgable enough to help. That’s supposed to be the purpose of this forum.

So… just out of curiosity, did you end up with the 2400?

dittos

I’ve also been wondering

I’m guessing not.

How about applying to these schools, especially to NYU, with almost these scores (2280 in SAT) and about 7 CGPA( Unlike of GPA, Indian CGPAs are run over scale of 0-10) in first 3 years of high school?

Please, any help or idea!

Furthermore, I’d also need altruistic help from them.

I’d say 7 CGPA might be a little too low, but your standardized test score seems fine. Perhaps more information like your extra curricular activities and ranking in school?

And this my friends is why we don’t assume we didn’t make mistakes.

@alafae Actually, My school is considered to be the best school in my town, Academically. Our teachers always keep marking tight over here. That’s why nobody was able to cross 87% in my last class (11th), and this was of even Bio Section. I am from Maths, and my section’s average was just 60%.( I don’t know, where do I stand, coz’ we don’t get ranks)

I don’t think we get much ECs in my school. So, that’s why I couldn’t manage to get much of ECs.

Now, what do you think? How far will this information helpful for me, with respect to NYU?

@alafae Hello?

I don’t think ‘having little ECs in school’ is a good excuse for little ECs, because you can always do so externally. At least that’s what I did and NYU expect you to (initiatives, rmb?)

And as you describe about your school’s situation, that would probably be more lenient given the context. NYU may be a high match, but Stern definitely is a low reach. Your chance will also depend on your demonstrated interest, how your curriculum and activities match to the subject you’re applying to a major in, your essays, recommendations, etc.

@kittycatyeah Could you update us on how the sat and your college acceptance went? I am genuinely curious, not looking for any excuse to put you down if it wasn’t the 2400 you expected. I do hope you ended up somewhere you enjoy.
To the rest of you: this is why we should try to be a little more understanding on these types of threads. It seems like she might’ve been driven away, and now we can’t learn from her experience.
Ps: Sorry to revive an old thread

If you live in California, then UC schools are a good bet, except UCLA and UCB. If you’re out-of-state, UCLA and UCB are definitely far reach schools due to GPA.

Please stop reviving old thread. The OP hasn’t been active since April and it’s numerously confirmed that the OP was a liar
