Low GPA Need Not Apply?

Greetings,

I'm currently a senior deliberating between a few EDII options one of which is Harvey Mudd.

The reason why I'm reluctant on applying to mudd is that, while I love the rigorous core, the highly engaged community and the Claremont Consortium, my GPA is quite low, as I have a 3.2 at a private school. My other stats are fine--2350 satI 800 physics and math IIC SATII scores, decently rigorous curriculum with AP physics, an English seminar, and vector calculus, a varsity sport, and a few science related EC's. I'm fairly confident in my ability to write and convey my enthusiasm for Mudd, but I'm hesitant to apply because I'm worried Mudd will reject me outright after looking at my grades.

Thank you for your time

Don’t worry! Mudd doesn’t look just at the GPA. They look for a student that they think will fit in and flourish here. I know plenty of people here who didn’t have the perfect GPA in high school. Don’t be afraid and apply. : )

Apply, write as strong an essay as you can. HMC does use a holistic approach to reviewing applications. Understand that HMC becomes more of a reach, though.
