According to my room assignment, I am in Low Rise 6. I've read both good and bad about the Low Rise dorms. Anyone with any Low Rise experience?

Oops, I meant to write "my son's room assignment"

My favorite part about the Low Rises is the suite set up- very good for making friends. Least favorite is that they aren't that great looking and how far from campus they are. The bus stop is right behind them though!

I am in low rise 6 too. In a triple. The suites sound good but I was hoping to be in one of the dorms that are closer to campus. Are there lots of parties in the low rises, or do people usually go to other dorms for that?

Apparently there aren't parties in the dorms at all. The only possible exceptions would be quite pregaming or in the townhouses. But otherwise the RAs are too strict to allow noisy underage drinking.

When I read the title, I thought it was talking about clothing. Low-rise size 6 jeans!

I got a single in one of the low rises, and I was wondering if anybody had any comments on the facilities and the overall social and academic environment there... I'm very curious, particularly because the info in the housing website says very little, I guess... Except that it's a small suite-style community with 144 residents, so I'd like to hear more. By the way, anybody have any pictures??

I spent the weekend with a friend who lived in Low Rise 6. It's not the fanciest dorm, but the layout is nice for socializing and the cleaning staff does a fantastic job of keeping it (and all other dorms) very clean. I was most impressed by the full size bathtub in the restroom....my old college had tiny shower stalls.

Low Rise 6 is in the back corner of North campus, but there are plenty of other dorms right there as well. RPCC is right there and Appel isn't too far of a walk. They aren't the greatest looking dorms, but as I said before the suite style is great. Each suite is single sex but usually the suite next to it is of the opposite sex.

And in regards to drinking in any of the dorms, it depends on your RA. Some are very strict, others just don't want to see it out in the hallway. I think that a lot of students to pre-game in their rooms (with the door closed of course). Again, as long as you don't have a crazy RA, you can do pretty much whatever you want as long as you aren't stupid.

Do people hang out in the lounges or do they just hang out in their suites? Do people study in the lounges? I was hoping to get dickson or donlon...I hope I like it here!

bump this up.. anyone has any picture??

I found this:

No offense nyjetsfan, but is it really your "son's" room assignment? :) In all cases, take note of fri3nds04's post, as it's essentially identical to what I've heard about them.

I remember on Facebook I was able to find pictures of dorms and their floor plan. Take a look there or check Campus life for a dorm room maps.

they look like old housing projects.

@Sapere: Can you post the link please? I couldn't find it.. >.<

Here are your general room diagrams for Low Rise 6. Housing - Low Rise 6

@Sapere: I thought you found some of the pictures from Facebook. I already checked the website before, so I already know about the page that you put up the link. Do you have the link for the pictures that you found on Facebook? thank you :D

the only reason your low rise suite will suck is b/c the people in your suite are jocks and never around or they're generally anti-social...

I'm really sorry, but I don't. I know some dorms have pictures of LR6, but I haven't been able to find them. If there are any students here who have been in LR6 and have photos, that would be extremely helpful.

its nothing fancy ladies and gentlemen...the walls are off-white dryboard, the dressers are economy class wood, carpet is what you would find in an office...

low rises and high rises look the same (room wise)
