Low Sat is my dream over?

Hey Ccers,

Im just a person who worries way to much. I always think of the negative side and have been worrying so much this year that I am hardly having any fun my senior year. My current gpa is a 3.1 and i reside in Alaska and am white. I have taken the sat twice neither with great luck. 940 and 980.
I am in the top 50 percent and have improved over the years.
EC's:
•Football: 2 Years Varsity, Lettered
•Soccer: 10 years of competitive /recreational, 3 time Memorial day tournament participant (Texas)
•Golf: 7 Years, Recreational, Attended Multiple Camps and Clinics.
•Local church volunteer for youth group along with 8 years of student learning and active participation. (got letter of recomendation from church leader)
•Two time gold medal winner: Anchorage Youth Ski League
•25 hours/week as a Lifeguard for 13 months+
•Adept with various computer languages and computer software ex. Webpage Design and knowledge of HTML, PHP, Perl.

So being from alaska, decent ec's, 3.1 gpa and 2 letters of recomendation I am looking at applying to these schools. I was wondering if you guys can give me any idea of how it is looking and if there is a chance. I want to go pre-dental and become a dentist. Also thinking of going business as a backup.

List of Schools:
Arizona State
Arizona
Gonzaga
Florida State (Might be a super reach but being from Ak might help??)
Montana State Bozeman
Texas atm (dad went there)
TCU (Texas Christian)
Washington State
Western Oregon

Please let me know guys and help me get some stress out Thanks
Zac

I think you have a more difficult task ahead but by no means are out of it, every state schoo like ASU WSU, i live in washington, are not hard to get into. just make sure you have good essays

You should have tried the ACT Test. The SAT just may not have been your thing. Did you prep any after taking it the first time. I'm sure you could have raised your score since there's so much room for improvement. I'm sure you can get into some of those schools.

Good Luck in your future endeavors,

Jerod

I don't think it's an impossible. However being out of state, I would recommend applying to Private Schools instead of just because publics don't take as many out of staters.
Drexel University
University of Cincinnati(this is state but it has great co op)
U of San Francisco
U of San Diego
Loyola University Chicago
U of Dayton

In the end, you won't know until you apply if you can get in. So don't be scared to apply.

I agree with liek0806, applying to some private schools might be better.

You are more likely to get into a better academic program through private schools than through out of state schools because of the competitiveness.

But don't fret, you're GPA is fine and your SAT can always be retaken. ACT may also be a choice to look nito since your list has alot of southern/ west coast schools. Don't underestimate yourself, you'll get into a load of great schools.
