So I am an international student and am in my second year of the IB diploma program. I have obtained 7's in IB math HL throughout the two years, with the exception of one 6 and am predicted to get a 7 this may in the final exams. 7 is the highest grade possible.

my SAT math II score was 730, which is quite low, considering I am applying to colleges like cornell and cooper union. can my IB grades make up for the low SAT math II score?

my SAT reasoning test math score is 740 btw.

thanks for your help!

If you are really concerned then take the SAT or the SAT II math test again after you have more math under your belt / or at the latest 1 month before the deadline to send your scores to colleges. Your math score will go up, the more math you learn. The SAT score is more important to colleges and yours is a fine math score, but if you have the chance to take the test again, it won’t hurt you.

^ thank you for your reply. i am a senior and have already sent off my application, and i’ll be joining college this fall, so there’s no way i can take the SAT again :S

also during a number of practice tests i took before the math II real test, i was consistently getting 780 and above. i don’t know what happened on the day of the test is there any way those colleges will weigh the IB grades more?

don’t know…both schools are extremely competitive so you’ll just have to wait and see. Good luck.

Your IB predicted score cannot “make up” for the 730 on the math II. I would think most of the 7 predicted students in IB math HL have close to 800 on the sat subject test.

Don’t worry though. I doubt they’ll reject you based on that.
