Low SAT, top schools.

I know I have 0% chance, but still please evaluate me. Sorry for not telling in details as I’m trying to be anonymous as much as possible.

My only fear is SAT CR and W (both are below 500), I ruined everything. I’m thinking to drop a year after my 12th grade and work on some projects and prepare well for SAT. But still I have applied this year to MIT, Stanford, Harvard, Cornell, UPenn, Uchicago, Columbia, Princeton and Yale. Do I have any chance to any one of this elite colleges? Because, most of the universities consider SAT more important than anything during admission and I have below average scores

Bump.

These top schools take a holistic approach to admission but a 1650 SAT score, especially coming out of an English language secondary school, will make acceptance extremely unlikely.

Although I get good marks in english, but I had problems with words used in SAT tests. I mean I didn’t knew some words. I got 10 in essay, but it won’t help. What about toefl ? will it help my app ?

Bump.

What country r u applying from?

India

Then ur chances are pretty low I guess…

Yes, many olympiad winners.

Zero chance at all. :frowning: Sorry…

Being an international applicant places you within a pool of applicants of the highest caliber with perfect test scores and professional accolades under their belts. They’re well qualified for the ivy league, maybe even more so than local applicants due to the intense competition. You will not fare well at all at any of these schools with those stats, not impossible, but highly unlikely. I would take a gap year and raise your SAT score substantially for a slight shot but all ivys are insanely difficult to get into and are not a guarantee for anyone. Good luck.

OP-I suggest you take that gap year. Study for the SAT and take it again. If you’re having trouble with the advanced words, use Quizlet (available as web site, mobile site, and in a free app) and search “TopScore”. They have a lot of sets of 50 words each that are “SAT words” and are likely to end up on the test. Quizlet allows for you to review the flashcards, play a small assortment of games, and take practice tests, then-if you make an account-will track the words you miss the most. I highly suggest it, I used it for the SAT and for my classes.
