I scored a 103 on the toefl ibt which is alright I suppose. I scored 25 on reading, 27 on speaking, 27 on listening and 24 on writing. I have not taken the sat/act yet, but I'm taking the act in october. I'm very concerned about my writing scores. Can it hurt my chances?

I’m sorry, but I think I should be realistic.
If you have done badly on the TOEFL, you will, unfortunately, do abysmally on the ACT/SAT…
You should know that not only your writing score will be terrie but also your reading score will be horrible too…
Unless you are extremely good at math and science, your comp score will be bad too…
But the problem is that you have to be a good reader to do well on the science section…

Eh, it’s not really that bad, the TOEFL score itself doesn’t make a lot of a difference, from 100+, they don’t care what your score is. Now, the problem is your SAT/ACT, you probably won’t get 2100+ (or the equivalent on the ACT) unless you do a lot of studying, and that will hurt your chances. It also depends on the kind of schools you want to apply to. There are some schools that are test-optional for internationals (which you probably are, since you took the TOEFL), and your TOEFL is good enough for that. Really, don’t worry about your TOEFL, worry about the other tests XD
