Hello everyone,

I had a 2.9 GPA in B.S. in Physics when I graduated from undergraduate school. I made A's and B's in all my physics and mathematics courses. It was electives that screwed up my GPA.

I just finished my masters with 3.8 GPA in Software Engineering. I also have a good research experience and good recommendation. My GRE quantitative analysis score is 160/170 and 140/170 in verbal reasoning.

I want to apply to a prestigious school for M.S. in Aerospace Engineering.

How are my chances? Does the higher GPA in maters degree help?

Your undergraduate GPA won’t matter as much since you have a master’s and have proven you can succeed in graduate school.

What is your definition of prestigious?
For engineering, I think of prestige as the very selective schools, which excludes some schools from the top 10. Caltech and Princeton are arguably the 2 most selective AE schools.
I would shoot for public schools. They tend to be less “numbers” oriented.
MS programs are typically not too difficult to get into, but finding funding will be difficult.

Why are you transferring from software to aero?

I have always been very passionate about Aerospace, mainly spacecraft system design. I watch videos of professor lecturing all the time.
I thought that i wasn’t good enough for it and I needed to make myself more financially stable before I could go for my dreams. Software Engineering jobs are plenty and they pay well so I went for it and now I can go part time to Aerospace school to make my dreams come true.

Thank you both for your response. I want to go to Purdue, Stanford or GaTech.
