Low UW GPA and High W GPA

I just finished junior here here in America and I just found out my GPA:
3.5 UW
4.6 W
I really don't get how my GPA could jump so much
Do you think I just threw away my chances at the Ivy League and other top notch schools?
Also, this is my first year in an American school (I came from India before) and I asked an adcom at an info session whether or not they would consider the geographical change when assessing my application and they said "of course." Is this true?

For top 20 schools, yes. Forget about it. But there’s plenty of other first-rate schools that you could get into. Use the College Search tool on CC to help you find good matches. Here’s a link:

[College Search - College Confidential](http://www.collegeconfidential.com/college_search/)

It won’t have a big enough impact to make or break the decision.

Good luck with everything.

Well,
my standardized testing isn’t that bad
SAT I: 2220
SATII Bio M: 780
SATII Math Level 2: 800

And I’ve got phenomenal ECs
I just don’t wanna give up on the top 20

What is your rank? Where do kids with your GPA usually end up from your school? It’s hard for us to evaluate your GPA without context.

^That’s true…

Rank please? What type of school? :)
