I'm an engineer and I suck at writing. Ive gotten a C's on all my uni. writing papers, but I've done all assignments/attended classes. But somewhere I heard lowest grade you can get for uni. writing in columbia is a B-? Is this true? Is this part of the inflation process or what

My UWriting instructor, I believe, has never given anyone a grade in the Cs. I might be wrong, though, but I remember her saying something like that. I think she implied B- is the lowest. I assume the inflation thing might play a role. Consider that a B- = 2.67.

You don't have your Retrospective Essay grade back do you? Plus, didn't you have at least one assignment other than the essays that was graded?

don't worry about it , Uni writting individual paper scores always look alot worse than the final score.

to give lower than a b- they need to petition the u.w. office (or so my teacher last year said)

Does anyone have actual support for this claim that Core professors can't give anything lower than a B- except in extenuating circumstances? I can see the administration discouraging it, or maybe even requiring clearance as a formality, but do we really know that you virtually can't get a C?

have you ever met/heard of anyone getting a c in u.w.?

i feel the circumstantial evidence is pretty strong here

My professor is new this year......she said she's never heard of such an inflation policy.

You think she's b.s.ing or I'm screwed?
She laid out the grading in the beginning of the year very strictly, like 25% Lens Essay, 25% Conversation Essay, 40% Research Essay, 10% Retrospective. Anybody else in Uni. Writing have such an experience?
