Loyola Chicago or Dayton

I have already been admitted to both Loyola Chicago and Dayton. I am planning on studying Elementary Education and really love the programs at both schools. My biggest concern in my decision process is that I used to live in Chicago and would love to return and go to Loyola. The problem is that I recieved 15,000 more money off per year at Dayton. I am trying to figure out which school to attend and am truly torn. Any suggestions?

I would revise the question to a few questions:

Could you be happy in Dayton despite not being in Chicago?
Where does the extra 15K come from if you choose Loyola?

From what I know, both will be similar academically for your program, so of course, Dayton would be better if money is a factor and you can be happy there in terms of fit. If both of those are true, I think this is pretty easy and you will likely have a great time and soon forget about Chicago’s draw. However, if one or both don’t hold, then Loyola has a case, and the details of that answer would really be the important factors.

Congrats on the acceptances!

Consider where you think you might want to live (and teach) after college.
Different states have differing credential requirements.

Either way, that $15k per year will add up to $60k in extra debt faster than you think.
Since the average teacher salary (not factoring in that newly-minted teacher will likely make much less)
in OH is compared to those in IL, your desire to go back to Chicago may not make financial sense.

Is your net cost after all aid $15k less per year? If it is, that is tough to make up.
