Hello all... as a junior from NJ, I find myself on a rampage trying to find the perfect college. I visited Loyla in October and absolutely loved it. Does anyone who attends/applied have any feedback as to what its really like and/or know if its getting increasingly hard to get into?

Also, for anyone who likes Loyola, what other schools are you interested in?

Thanks!

Which Loyola?
I am thinking about going to Loyola Marymount in California for they have a great film program

sorry.. I meant Loyola College in Maryland

Libby Lou,

Funny, I attended Loyola (a long time ago) and was calssmates with a Lou Libby! Anyway, my D is now a senior there and has absolutely loved the college. It was her # 1 choice and she had also applied and been accepted to Scranton, UMass, UConn, U of NH and Rutgers. Loyola is a mid-size school with great ammendites and super housing. As senior, she has been placed in an internship with a Baltimore based Fortune 500 company in her field of study, Marketing. Ihighly recommend Loyola.

Try: Villanova, Fairfield, Providence College, St. Joseph's (in Philadelphia), and Marist as "close matches" in feel to Loyola. If you have excellent grades/test scores, add Boston College and possibly Holy Cross to the list.

Thanks... any comments on the social scene?

what are your stats? GPA? PSAT?

Lots to do on and off campus. Downtown Baltimore is a 20 minute bus/cab ride. Towson is also nearby and bars on York Road are frequented. Since a majority of students do board on campus (high concentration of MD, DL, NJ, PA and Long Island) students ARE AROUND on weekends so there's lots to do unlike the "suitcase" schools where everyone goes home on weekends.

thanks... seniorpop would you recommend it?

oh sorry i didnt see you're above post... thanks for all your help.

Yes, she highly receommends Loyola. With that said, my son visited and did not like it at all. So, its in the "eye of the beholder." He was looking for a school at a higher level academically and ended up at an Ivy where is now a freshman. Loyola is strong academically but didn't meet his criteria. Another strength od Loyola is how well its respected by the mid-Atlantic business community, lots of alums in high positions with Loyola ties. They also place a significant number of grads in professional schools (med, dental, law) every year.

Good luck with your decision.

thanks... i should be able to get into loyola with my stats. hopefully my SATs/ACTs will be good enough. it seems like a good match- and i loved the campus
